Hey Wayne, wishing you and Lynn a Happy Holiday season. We'll have to get together on bikes this year :).
Sure thing Tom! I don't think we are making a trip North this year though... Probably heading to Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway for our Spring trip.

Thanks and Same to you.

There is a new Storm this week, that may bring snow, but also likely to be rain where i live.

Here in New Jersey it has been warm... Still motorcycle season here!

Regardless of reason, It's always a little sad to me when I read or hear someone has quit sledding.

We are all getting older. I will be turning 73 this month and losing arm strength. Had to buy a sled lift so I can still get the rear dolly on and off my sled. All my riding friends are either dead or have quit sledding.
Belive me I know Hal. The friends  I know that have quit, passed on, number in the dozens. It's just sad to me from the aspect of exactly what you said, all getting older, not having the friends to enjoy it with any longer, and the sport has definitely  not been taken up by todays younger generations. It's just too expensive for the money invested vs what your dollar can buy in other recreation motorsports based on yearly use. Just for me nothing else, has fueled my passion like snowmobiling, except when my dollybabe of 43 years says............................. :devilsmiley:  :jump: :thumbsupsmileyanim:
The way I see it, when we are young we should be saving our money for retirement. However when we retire we don't have the energy or friends to enjoy sledding. It is like the guy who said he couldn't afford to buy peanuts, but when he was old enough to afford them he didn't have teeth to chew them.

100% true... Although we did our time on the sleds for a few decades and have since moved on to motorcycles which are much easier on the body. Last spring we rode 1600 miles in 9 days with no regrets.

I'm just hanging around waiting for AJ to post.....heck maybe roadie will accidentally make a post.  I've been riding with a few retired air controller types the last couple years, my brother and my 2 youngest boys - mini-me and goodwrench.  They'll be 18 and 19 this season

You can find Roady in Facebook Jail most of the time.... Some things never change.

New York is about the worst in Property Taxes vs what you get in return closely followed by New Jersey.

Moving out West that far severely limits (IMO) job choices/availability/income. Just remember if the cost of living is low so is the available income/hourly wage. So if the cost of living is low chances are the wages will reflect that.

We are looking to relocate to Pennsylvania only because we like the weather/change of seasons which would be similar to New Jersey plus being near retirement our 401Ks will not be taxed during disbursement as they would be in New Jersey.
Keep in mind we stopped snowmobiling a few years ago and now our recreation/life revolves around motorcycling which in the right climate is a 9-12 month a year activity.

Nice KZ RD!
I bought an 81 Suzuki GS850G las year and have been slowly working on it. I had a 1980 that I bought as a leftover in '81... iIt was my first real street bike. Lynn and I used to burn some back roads on it back in the day!

I tried several times to attach photos but no luck...

My FB Page Dirty Details... I have been restoring vintage bikes both street and dirt.

Hi Karin! I wrote a rather long reply last night and after trying to get it to post I gave up for the night.
Hope all is well with you Dennis and the kids! It has been a long time since the crazy party at Wichwey's!

No more sleds for us... Lynn and I travel by motorcycle now. A couple week long vacations a year.
In June we rode 1600 miles over a 9 day trip back up to Lewis County to visit our friends that we made over the years snowmobiling.

Snow has been fairly thin on Tug Hill...
Although I sold my sleds and cabin I still pop in and check the web cams and reports.

There hasn't been much more than 8-12 inches up there and some trails at lower elevations were still closed earlier this week.
My friends who all sold their sleds a few years ago right after I sold mine got the itch again and bought some used iron.

They are finally up for their first trip this weekend and one buddy says the trails that are open are great.
They are due to get pounded by the storm that is coming from your area on Sunday but the wind chills are supposed to be in the 35 below range and all of them have open helmets with goggles so no fun for them.

TC was created 21 years ago come January!!   Wow, kids!!  Well we're not kids anymore!!  Actually, we weren't kids then so...   :mf_w00t2:

Lot's of great times, memories and great friends made from that site... Thanks Karin!

I went over to TC to see if I could find out what was going on and they were down too.

TC has been down for months... It was down for a few weeks then came back online for about a month and now looks like it's gone for good.

I would put some heat shielding around that coolant bottle...

FOM was great guy, I'm late and sorry to hear now. He sort of was like 'Marty?' from NY, I can't remember his screen name, ski-doo guy that passed shortly after moondisc.

Marty Bull AKA Maddog... Real good dude.

Everything you need to know should be in here...
Thanks. The previous owner gave me the manual that came with the sled too. Got the side panel off today and found how to check the oil level and drain plug. The antifreeze reservoir is located there also, but buried under the top panel. I thought it was low, because I didn't see the level of fluid. Took the top panel off and found out it was completely full to the cap.
Ready for snow now to try it out.

If the coolant reservoir is completely full don't be surprised if it burps some out the first time it gets hot.
