We need more cold and a bit more snow would not hurt.  Lakes are not froze over yet, and the ground is not frozen either.  I was out last Saturday helping my local club mark trails that we could not get to before due to wet/ flooded areas and crops still in the field.  Some of the issues still remained.  :(
Work harder, millions on welfare depend on you...

Sleds:
2013 Polaris Switchback Assault 144 800
2007 Polaris Switchback 600 Wife's sled
1997 Arctic Cat Puma DLX 340 has more time on it last  season than the above sleds.

Vilas should open right around Dec 15-16.  As in the UP ect, stay off the lakes.  Now if only my damn sled would get here :banghead:

Things are good David ! Hope the same for you ! I drive through your neck of the woods a lot now days, as my son attends UW SP.
It's a longer ride to my place in the UP, but I feel better about picking him up for rides instead of him meeting me up there, driving a Honda Accord with all that snow and ice on the roads.

Good to see your son trying to shed his FIB status  :thumbsupsmileyanim:   Hard to believe your boy is in college, last time I saw him he was about chest high!  Glad to hear things are good on your end.

A buddy and I made a bonzi run to Mercer for Yesterday's season trail opener in Iron county.

180 miles in on the new iron...

You guys talking about the U.P. might want to avoid the central U.P.(Munising, etc.) for a bit...that storm from a week & 1/2 ago did a number on us...trees down everywhere...local club is working their respective butts off trying to clear everything so they can groom but it is really slow going even with a pot load of volunteers...a couple friends rode yesterday (Sat.) and said trails are really rough...if you try to go off-trail you never know what paths etc. could be blocked with downed trees...and we got enough snow that turning around can be a biotch...plus the ground is not frozen yet so there is that..

Not try to be a naysayer, just want you informed before you make a significant drive to be disappointed...also if off-trail, it's hard to judge exactly what's under the snow and the "blanket" is not thick enough to just blow over stuff... YMMV
